Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (412) 521-2088. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, chengdugourmetpa.com.

Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 1,005 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded chinese restaurants in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Amazing food. I couldn't decide so I asked for recommendations. The lady pointed out a couple of customer favorites and convinced me to get the Chengdu Spicy Beef In Flaming Pan, which is not something I was even considering. The flavor was WONDERFUL. It depth of the flavor profile really stood out. I ordered it medium spicy, and towards the end of the meal I was pretty lit up, so I would say it runs on the spicier side. Kids got Sesame and General Tso's lunch specials and both enjoyed them well. The chicken egg rolls are also good. The prices for everything ended up being $1 more than on the menu so they should update that soon. Also the music kinda took away from the atmosphere for us.

Had a great dinner at Chengdu! There was a small wait for the table, but after that the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering :). We had the La Zi Ji (chilli pepper chicken), mapo tofu, honey pork ribs and the beef broccoli.

Incredibly delicious!! The authentic Chinese menu is full of delights. We got the homestyle pork belly, minced pork and tofu, scallion pancakes, and wonton soup. Everything was flavorful and fresh. The server was really attentive, too. We love, love, love Chengdu Gourmet!

I’ve been meaning to try Chengdu Gourmet for a while, and I’m glad I did. I got the Sichuan Dumpling in Red Chili Oil and the Diced Chicken in Chongqing Style. The dumplings were pretty good, but the chicken was amazing. It wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting but it was incredibly fragrant and flavorful - an exciting dish to eat. I loved all the chilis and the Sichuan peppercorns. Would highly recommend.

I think their food tastes great and is quite authentic to Sichuan style, served in large bowls. You can also request extra rice at no additional charge. The cold chicken dish has been especially good so far. The restaurant offers plenty of indoor seating, including large tables for big groups. During peak hours it can get very busy, and the wait can be long. However, most of the time they have some seating availableβ€”though on Friday nights and holidays, it’s best to check ahead before you go.
